—PRESUMPTION—
The
word of God states that
“Michael the archangel, when contending with the
devil he disputed about the body of Moses…said, The
Lord rebuke thee” (Jude 9).
Nuts on TV who play up to the cameras
praying, “Satan, I bind you and take authority. In
Jesus’ name, Amen!” are admitting to several things:
1.
They pray to Satan.
2.
They do it in Jesus’
name.
3.
They are full of
themselves.
If the archangel of God would not be
so presumptuous when dealing with the devil, why
should any real believer? “For the weapons of our
warfare are not carnal” (II Corinthians 10:4),
and shooting one’s mouth off is certainly a carnal
display. Fools rush in where angels fear to tread.
The calling of believers is not to
pick spiritual fights with Satan. God assures us,
“Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord”
(Romans 12:19). And when “your adversary,
the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking
whom he may devour,” the apostle Peter writes
that it is “the God of all grace” who will
then “make you perfect, stablish, strengthen you”
(I Peter 5:8-10).
The apostle Paul desired, “that ye
walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,
with all LOWLINESS and MEEKNESS…endeavouring to keep
the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace”
(Ephesians 4:1-3). So the next time one of these
charlatans goes into his “binding and loosing” act,
remember he is trying to “make merchandise of
you” (II Peter 2:3), and make a name for
himself, “because of advantage” (Jude 16).
Tell him to go get a real job.
